Named after the first shire president

Willmot carries the name of Thomas Willmot, the first President of Blacktown Shire Council. It sits at the northern end of the estate suburbs around Mount Druitt, and like its neighbours it was built out from the mid-1960s to a consistent plan.

It is one of the smaller suburbs we cover, and one of the most uniform. Nearly every original house here is single-storey with a concrete tile roof of the same generation.

Why uniform housing is useful

When the roofs are all the same age, you can plan rather than react. If houses in your street are starting to leak, or you have seen two or three re-roofs go in nearby, it is a reasonable signal to get yours looked at before you find out the hard way in February.

The inspection is free. You will get photographs of your ridge lines, valleys, flashings and tile condition, a plain-English summary and an itemised written quote. Nothing is charged if the answer is that it can wait.

• Re-roofing in tile or Colorbond where they are not
